PATTAYA, Thailand- Pattaya and surrounding areas in Chonburi province are set to experience cooler mornings and stronger winds from January 6-10 as another moderately strong cold air mass from China spreads across upper Thailand, according to the Thai Meteorological Department. While Pattaya will not see cold conditions as severe as northern or northeastern regions, residents and tourists can expect noticeably cooler air during the early morning, especially near the coast, with daytime temperatures remaining warm.For the eastern region, including Pattaya, minimum temperatures are forecast at 18-21°C, with daytime highs reaching 30-33°C.
Northeasterly winds will strengthen, blowing at 15-35 km/h, contributing to rougher sea conditions. The Gulf of Thailand near Pattaya will see waves of around 1 meter, increasing to 1-2 meters offshore. In isolated areas with thunderstorms, waves may exceed 2 meters, prompting authorities to urge small boat operators and recreational sailors to exercise caution.
Although rainfall in Pattaya is expected to remain minimal, officials warn that dry and windy conditions increase fire risk, particularly in residential areas and open spaces. People are also advised to take care of their health, as cooler temperatures combined with wind can lead to respiratory issues.
Air quality across the region is expected to remain good, with dust and haze accumulation at low to moderate levels due to favorable ventilation. Meteorologists say the cool spell will persist through midweek, offering a brief seasonal change for Pattaya during Thailand’s otherwise warm dry season, before temperatures gradually stabilize.
